Will the Tigers Roar in 2010
We all know that the team of the 2005-2006 seasons are not as good as they once were when they were charging towards the World Series. The Tigers of the 2010 season will not live up to the expectations that many fans are going to hold them to this season.
While they are not the worst team to come from Detroit in the last few seasons, there is still a lot of work that will need to be done in order to get the team in a position to win the World Series. There is the chance that the team will be able to make the most out of their opportunities, it will not come unless they are able to correct the following areas of concern.
Let's face it there is nothing that is decent in the way of a pitcher for the team, this is due to the fact that there are few starting pitchers that will be able to accomplish the task of getting the batters out at the plate. This will be the problem that will chase the team all throughout this season. In addition to the lack of talent that will be able to start the game with any real success, there is a severe lack of a closing pitcher, this as a result will be a tough thing for them to overcome in the upcoming season.
This will be a problem that will affect the Tigers for most of the season, unless they are able to get a trade that will give them the power that they need. There is also a severe lack of closer that will be important in the aspect of closing out a game and shutting down the opposing team. These two lacks of talent will be the downfall of the team.
Now let's look at the affect that the holes in the outfield will have on the team, these holes will hurt the team with regard to the fact that they will not be able to hold runners from advancing any farther than they really should in the first place.
Now let's look at the infield. This is one area that can increase the defense of a team. This will be one of the best chances that the Tigers have in making the most out of their chances. There has been a strong infield presence so far During Spring Training. Hopefully this trend will continue for the tigers all throughout the season.
The team has the chance to turn this around. When the season opens in the next few days, they will be on even ground with the rest of the league. What they do from there will be up to them. They can either fix the problems now, or leave things the way they are now and will need to fix later in the season. By that time it will be too late for a winning season. The Tigers need to make the changes now and find a lineup that will be able to deliver time after time.
