Penn State Nittany Lions

The base ball team for Pennsylvania State University was known as the Penn State Nittany Lions. There uniform colors were blue and white. Even though base ball was not the strongest sport, they were able to participate in the NCCA Division I FBS and the Big Ten Conference.

Being big on other sports such as football, this did not stop the Penn State Nittany Lions from creating major league legends that we will all remember.

Tom Lawless is a well-known infielder for the major league. He was born in Erie, Pennsylvania on December 19, 1956. He played first on July 15, 1982 for the Cincinnati Reds. Aside from the Reds, Lawless has also become a part of the Montreal Expos, the St. Louis Cardinals and the Toronto Blue Jays. His final happened on July 4, 1990 where he played for the Blue Jays.

Lawless became famous during a time where it is very difficult to achieve a home run. Nevertheless, he managed to establish a record of 24 runs, in which all he has batted in. He has also maintained a batting average of 0.207 and made 2 home runs.

Cliff Heathcote is another product of Penn State Nittany Lions who has made significant contributions in the major league industry. As an outfielder, he was able to maintain a batting average of 0.275 and had achieved a total of 42 home runs. On top of these, he has also made a total of 448 runs all of which he has batted in. And as if these were not enough, he also achieved a total of 191 stolen bases, which is very exceptional during his time.

He had a batting average of 0.275 with 42 home runs. The total amount of runs that he had scored in which he also batted was 448. He had a remarkable 191 stolen bases which was quite impressive for the standard of the game during those early years. He received the national league pennant in 1929 for his amazing performances. Cliff sadly passed away on September 24th, 1939 when he was only 41 years old.

Another famous pitcher that made it to major league from the Penn State Nittany Lions was Ed Klepfer. Ed was born on March 17th, 1888. He played his first debut match for the New York Yankees on July 11th, 1914.

Klepfer had an earned run average of 2.81, pitching record of 22-17, and a total strike out of 165. Given the period of time that Klepfer has played for the major league, his statistics were definitely remarkable and have benchmarked the performance of other pitchers that came after him.

The rich historical record of Penn State Nittany Lions only proves that the team and its players have made such an influence in major league baseball. Thus, with proper training and discipline, the Nittany Lions can rise to glory once more.
