Largest Football Grounds In The World
For some clubs, having a large stadium is simply a statement, where are for others, it is a necessity. Some of the stadiums that are listed below are extremely well know, so are likely to be discussed on Football Forums worldwide.

Coming in at number nine are two stadiums; Estadio Monumental Isidro Romero Carbo and Wembley. They are both popular in their own right, although Wembley is possibly better known across a lot of Football Forums. Both stadiums are said to seat 90,000 people and Wembley is said to have cost 800m to build.

One stadium that tends to get more coverage now is the Beijing National Stadium, which the owners have announced will be a shopping centre soon. It holds 91,000 people and will host the likes of the Italian Super Cup, the Supercoppa Italiana between Inter and Lazio before it closes.

In 1950, Brazilians built the Estadio do Maracana, which was designed for the World Cup. There were certainly good battles for the 200,000+ crowd to watch. Unfortunately since then, they have more than halved the capacity to 96,000.

Barcelona has always been an impressive team and their stadium is just as impressive. It has a capacity of 98,772 currently, after being reduced from 105,000. It was originally built back in 1957

Bukit Jalil National Stadium and the Azadi Stadium both share 5th position, with capacities of 100,000. The Bukit Jalil National Stadium was famous for hosting the commonwealth games back in 1998 and the Azadi is home to the Iranian national team.

Sitting in fourth we have the Melbourne Cricket Ground, which was built back in the 1800's. Although it is old, it still has great presence on Football Forums, mainly due to the constant restoration that keeps it looking modern. It holds just over 100,000 people.

A lot of people do not even know that the Mexican National Team have a decent ground, but this is the truth. In fact, it actually holds 105,000 people and is based in Mexico City. The Estadio Azteca has held two world cup finals - one in 1970 and one in 1986.
